Arsene: Another no market!

arsene-wengerArsene Wenger will regret that he only made 1 purchase in the summer transfer window, yet lost two first team players, therefore made a total net LOSS of 1 player to the squad.
It will be felt none more so than during this weekend’s match against Man City, funnily enough, where the two 1st team players that we sold, have ended up.
Before the start of the season, Wenger was faced with the following

FACTS:
- Defence last season was terrible
- Toure & Adebayor are gone
- Rosicky hasn’t played for 18 months
- Eduardo hasn’t played for over a year
- Our midfield last season wasn’t good enough
- Nasri broke his leg in training
- Song would be gone for 1 month in January to the African Cup of Nations
- Walcott would be injured for the start of the season

To address the above mentioned points, Wenger brought in Vermaelen who has been fantastic in his first 4 games, but that is IT, no one else. Now, after the two week international break, Arshavin has come back injured. Fabregas, while he was out before the international break, played for his country on Wednesday, and is now out of the Man City game. Rosicky too, played on Wednesday, but is out of the match on Saturday too.

This has left Wenger extremely short for what already is a crucial game. If only Wenger had brought in (as nearly all Arsenal fans wanted) another center back, and another defensive midfielder, then there would be even more confidence going into the match tomorrow and with this season as a whole.
Whilst the start of this season has certainly been positive for Arsenal, it has to be said that they played an AWFUL Everton team… a terrible Portsmouth team and only beat Celtic by fortune of a LOT of luck (Gallas lucky goal, own goal, and a dodgy penalty). Tomorrow will be the 1st true test of the team (I don’t count the Man Utd game. That game is written off as a result of bad Karma for Eduardo’s dive vs. Celtic!). Our starting strikers are yet to score this season (van Persie and Bendtner) and that is a huge worry… neither have looked like scoring either, even though both scored on International duty this week, Bendtner whilst playing as a out and out striker, and van Persie whilst playing on the right side of a front 3… Funnily enough, their roles are reversed for Arsenal… strange decision Mr. Wenger(!)

Tomorrow’s match will be very interesting to watch. You can bet your bottom dollar that Ade-Barn-Door will be going all out to score against Arsenal. It will also be interesting to see what Arsenal team is put out, as even though it’s only our 4th league match of the season, Wenger is already being stretched to the limit’s regarding his squad. All the more reason why he should have brought a couple more quality (not YOUTH) players during the summer. We’ll see what happens!
