Robin van Persie was stretchered off after about 10 mins in Netherlands 0-0 draw with the World Champions – Italy. Before this match Arsene Wenger had talked about how the month of November seemed to be the month in which the Gunners faltered in the bid for a Premiership title due to injuries and this year’s challenge isn’t any different.
It’s just the worst fear when players go away for International duty to have one of them come back with injuries and it’s even worse when it’s one of Arsenal’s key and on-form players.
Robin van Persie who has been on fire for Arsenal after a slow start at the beginning of the season, scoring 8 goals in all competitions was looking as an apt replacement for the lone striker role vacated by Emmanuel Adebayor.
The early diagnosis in Holland is that it’s a potential long-term injury but more tests will be conducted on Sunday to determine the extent of the injury and his possible time out. He’ll join the likes of Diaby, Walcott, Clichy, Vela, Wilshere, Traore, Denilson, Bendtner and Djourou on the injury list.
This must be frustrating for Wenger as it is for us fans losing another vital player this season to injuries for another extended period of time. This obviously means the likes of Eduardo and Arshavin will get a chance to step in and own that top striker role for the gunners.
We wish you speedy recovery RvP and everyone else on the injury list. We need you all back SOONEST.
UPDATE: The diagnosis is an ankle ligament damage and an approximately 6 weeks out on the treatment table. RvP, it was reported that he’ll be visiting a doctor who massages the leg with placenta. Yes…placenta.
Anything you need to get back as soon as possible RvP. Anything is fine.
