As the title of this post goes, I am a little befuddled why Glen Johnson is considered a right back? I guess this is a question for Rafa Benitez but it is quite an obvious one that I don’t think anyone has really asked in the real sense to get an answer.
Watching Liverpool at home to Birmingham city on the Monday Night football game, I was really in shock how good this dude is going forward. He was running the right side like his home and had the two City defenders chasing his shadows like video game defenders.
He has such a quick feet and showed sometimes his football sense. He was undoubtedly one of the best players on the night for the home team.
So it makes me wonder, why not make Glen Johnson an attacking right sided midfielder instead of a right back? He is a potential threat up front, an area of the pitch Liverpool need help right now! Find another player to play the right back position effectively and better than Johnson would. In other words, Glen Johnson is questionable in defense but asks a lot of questions in the oppositions half of the pitch so take advantage of that.
Rafa Benitez has been known to be the rotation master. This is one rotation that I do not think the Liverpool fans will frown at. It is a closer bet to getting a positive result if Glen Johnson is used as one of the main attacking forces from the right side for the likes of Ngog, Kuyt and Babel than to play three central defenders in a game.
Mr. Benitez the ‘facx’ is you might have to move some players around to start getting some favorable results. So why not start with Glen Johnson?
