Wolves 0-1 Birmingham
Birmingham’s win at Wolves set the tone for a good day for the away sides. Lee Bowyers lone goal sent Wolves tumbling down one place from the bottom of the league. Good win for Birmingham who somehow has found their way up to 12th position considering Alex McLeish was vilified by the home fans a few games ago due to their proximity to the relegation contenders section of the table.
Mick McCarthy on the other hand must be a good bet spinner. His record at Wolves is enough to have him sacked. I won’t be surprised if he’s next on the chopping block.
Everton 0-2 Liverpool
There’s something about derby’s that brings out the best and the worst performances at the same time in a game. That might explain Everton’s brilliant performance against Liverpool with regards to their play but their error filled defensive performance that gave Liverpool the 2-o win. A Joseph Yobo own goal through a huge deflection gave Liverpool the lead while a lapse in concentration gifted Dirk Kuyt the opportunity to seal the deal for Liverpool in the dying minutes of the game. David Moyes was quoted as saying he did not know where else he could take Everton any longer. Well, one suggestion would be to take them away from the relegation battle.
Arsenal 0-3 Chelsea
I have been avoiding writing anything about this game because when I do I sound like a broken record which frankly is how anyone sounds when talking about Arsenal. Gunners have all the possession in the world, but lose the prize. Didier Drogba is just more than a Hercules heel for Arsenal. We all knew he would be a problem for Arsenal and sadly for us Arsenal fans, we all were right. Seems like even if Drogba wasn’t playing, he would somehow manage to bury the Gunners from wherever he is when the two teams play.
A defensive gaffe by William Gallas from an Ashley Cole’s cross presented the Drog with the chance to show what he’s made of for the opening goal. A Thomas Vermaelen unfortunate own goal put Chelsea 2-0 up before the half. Drogba converts a free kick in the late stages of the second half that leaves Almunia wanting.
The last thing I want to say about this is that Arsenal was well beaten by an effective Chelsea team. That’s it!
