The first football game to be showed in 3D was three times a disaster for me as an Arsenal fan to watch.
Yeah Nani and Rooney they say were brilliant for the visitors but I want to mention what I found was missing in this match from the gunners. It was team spirit and team play.
For some strange inexplicable reasons all the players wanted to be heroes. It reminded me of pick-up games or five asides we played growing up with friends and how individually we all tried to show off what we could do and completely forgot that we were all on the same side and we all were responsible for the results we got or didn’t get.
Fabregas was the guiltiest culprit of this but I guess he turned on his selfishness when Arshavin, Nasri and Rosicky started it off.
Arshavin was again poor. I was crucified once before because I questioned his performance and likened him to a potential United’s Berbatov but the more games he’s played in the more I’m convinced he is potentially that on our team.
I was praying for a comeback even at 3-0 and was glad to see Vermaelen score the first. So I said to myself that’s all we need with 12 minutes left on the clock we still have a chance for the greatest comebacks in the history of the clash. But as some of us have realised, we lack mental strength when it mattered most and Sunday was another for history books.
The most annoying part about this all is the fact that this was such a high profile game against one of the title contenders and of the two teams on the pitch on the day, it had to be the Gunners who weren’t up to par. It’s even sadder to think that we still find it hard to handle the ‘big boys’ after so much progress this season.
This game was watched by millions and it’s sad that gunners have again given the critics something to talk about for the next few weeks. I’m sad that we always manage to live up to the expectations of the critics.
Something needs to be done to the psychic of the players before the next game against Chelsea which is a crucial game we must win thanks to the loss to United. We all knew these next set of fixtures would determine our fate in the league table and I was hoping that this was one we could win considering Manchester United’s lack luster performances so far. I said then that we need 10 out of the 12 points available from these fixtures to win the league; we’ve lost four points out of twelve.
Mr. Wenger has some real work to do to re-program the minds of these gunners and refine his tactics against Chelsea. It’s funny how Sir Alex said they knew they always had a chance on the counter and they planned around that. Well guess what happened? They succeeded.
Teams around the league have somehow figured out a way to play Arsenal off the park when it comes to the big stage. Arsenal on the other hand hasn’t figured out how to surprise the opponents.
When will this team mature? Not physically…..but mentally. I only hope we can start seeing signs of maturity starting with this loss and the response we give at Chelsea.
